I help women in midlife who feel overwhelmed and stressed out by all they have on their plates; trying to parent, care for aging parents, maintaining connection with their partner, and keeping their careers on track all while going through the physical changes of perimenopause and menopause.
My clients are dealing with a lot all at once, just like you. Despite being strong, independent women, they have lost a bit of themselves in the day to day of a chaotic life.
During the beginning of our work together, they are feeling angry, resentful, and guilty for feeling angry and resentful. They feel like they have failed if they can’t “do it all” with a smile on their face.
The comparison of their lives to the Instagram “perfect” moms makes them feel inadequate, taking the ability to enjoy life from them.
They feel a surge of anger if there is one more request made of their time and energy. Family, friends, work. Their time doesn’t feel like their own anymore but feel selfish for wanting to set boundaries or say “no.”
All of the demands on their time leaves them unable to relax, be the parent or partner they want to be. They feel detached, disconnected from others and from themselves.
Before coming to see me, they are burned out, and feel shame in wanting to take time out for themselves. They feel like others can do and be all the things for everyone and still manage to be happy, why can’t they?
Like my clients, you deserve to take care of yourself, too. It is hard to take care of others when you are running on empty. It’s like the oxygen mask on the airplane, you have to put your own mask on before you can help anyone else with their mask.
